Thought Park
from Cleveratom
Thought Park is a learning environment that is suitable for users aged between 7 and 70 plus. It enables members to establish both public and private groups where activities can be run, hold conversations with one or more people and showcase their work at a variety of different levels. The system encourages the user to establish a home page featuring a catalogue of content which can be commented on. Users can upload media files of any type and these will be converted to a format that can be shown on the pages. It is a safe and secure environment that is flexible and adaptable to many different needs.
It is the engine underneath RUGroom.net, which was developed for learners with Asperger's Syndrome (AS), and consequently places a strong emphasis on identity and emotion with the use of dynamic avatars and status message. It purposefully doesn't link to a school management system such as SIMS so that you can create users from a wide variety of different settings, encoraging collaboration between schools. The administration of Thought park is simple yet powerful, and much of the interface features drag and drop simplicity.
Thought Park is in use in primary schools as a learning platform, secondary schools running the new 14-19 diplomas and needing cross school collaboration, and colleges with AS students.
